The Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company started in 1914 after making Oldsmobile parts and Ford engines. Dodge manufactured automobiles and light to heavy-duty trucks. The Chrysler Corporation acquired the Dodge company in 1928 and ran it as a midrange car and truck brand. In 1998, Dodge, along with all other Chrysler subsidiaries merged with Daimler-Benz to form DaimlerChrysler. The Chrysler part of DaimlerChrysler, including Dodge, was sold to a private equity company in 2007, and now operates under the name Chrysler LLC, with Dodge operating as a seperate division therof.
